Photographic Essay
Concept
This photographic essay (a collection of photos that tells a story of some sort) is about growing up, sadly leaving childhood behind, while also appreciating the present for what it has to offer.
Color
The first 4 photos are in a brownish-yellow hue to emphasize a rejected nature. Most of them are pictures of childhood “playthings” that are now showing their age, thematically referencing the ending of childhood. In thematic and visual contrast to these, the last two pictures are brighter and more colorful, symbolizing an appreciation for the present.
Layout
Each picture is laid out in a way that the little is shown outside of the central objects. This creates a clear focus and subject matter in every picture. In addition, I used the rule of thirds (aligning a major element with the lines and or points created by a hypothetical grid that splits the picture into thirds) in most, if not all, of the pictures to give them a visually appealing look.
